A Short Trip to Ipoh!

Last Saturday, my family and I decided to go on a short trip to Ipoh. We were planning to just relax, go for some shopping, and try new foods. We started our road trip journey at around 9:30a.m.

Road trip!
When we reached Ipoh, the first thing we did was to go for lunch. We headed to Onn Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant, which was located next to Lou Wong Restaurant. The chicken was really soft and juicy, whereas the bean sprout was fresh and crunchy :) If you're looking for the best chicken rice shop, Onn Kee is the one you should go to!

After lunch, we went to check in at our hotel (French Hotel Ipoh), and headed to Aeon Station 18 to do some shopping. My brother bought a pair of shoes, and I got a beautiful dress. We then went to have some tea at Pancake House. The pancakes served there were absolutely FABULOUS. The waffles were soft and tasty when added with syrup too! Oh, it's been so long since I've tasted something as good as the pancakes and waffles in Pancake House.

After Pancake House, we continued shopping till approximately 6:00p.m. Then, we went to search for restaurants to have our dinner. We ended up in Tuck Kee Restaurant, located just a few shops away from Onn Kee Restaurant. Let's just say that dinner wasn't that pleasant because a) we had to wait really long to be seated as there were so many people, and b) due to the amount of people I guess the chef was too busy to do some quality control.

Dinner was done, and we headed back to our hotel to prepare for bedtime.

The next morning, we went to the Big Tree Food Garden to have our breakfast. We tried some fried durian, cempedak, and rice cake, which were all delicious and super crunchy! We also ordered two bowls of porridge and a bowl of kuey teow soup. It was a filling breakfast after all!

We decided to head home right after breakfast because we know that many people would be going back to KL, and we have to avoid the traffic jam. Although the trip to Ipoh was quite tiring, I managed to take a little rest before resuming to my daily works.

Stay tuned for more adventures! Have a great day :)

Addicted to Climbing Hills?

Yesterday morning, my family and I went to climb the Bukit Gasing Hill with Uncle Ong and some of our usual hiking friends. We arrived at around 7.30am and started hiking at 8.00am.

Uncle Ong gave us a briefing about the types Bukit Gasing trails and the difficulty for each of them. There were flat trails that we could walk in a relaxed manner, but there were also steep, stair-like trails that we had to give out our energy and climb on.

We walked up the hill for quite a while, and stopped by our first rest station. Uncle Ong met few of his old friends/colleagues/hiking mates at the rest station, and they chatted briefly. After taking some good rest, we decided to continue our journey to the peak of the hill.

We then came across a long bridge (it's sort of like a canopy bridge, but it's not too high from the ground) , and had to walk through it to get to the other side of the hill. The bridge was a little shaky, and a few of us were quite scared that we might fall down! Nevertheless, all of us made it, and were eager to finish our hike.

After the bridge crossing, we had to face the last obstacle before reaching the top of the hill, which was to climb up the steep, stair-like hill. This required a lot of mental and physical motivation. The trick is that you can't look forward, you have to look down at the next step you're going to step on. Why? Because if you look forward, and you are that type of person who usually have a strong determination skill, you will give up easily.

Through all the obstacles, we finally reached the top of the hill, and rested for some time up there. Uncle Ong took out his ukulele (as usual), and began playing some songs for us to sing along and enjoy.

Uncle Ong played his ukulele all the way down, and we sang along till we reached the bottom of the hill. We then went to a chicken rice restaurant nearby the area for lunch, and headed back home to rest. It was a great experience to climb the Bukit Gasing Hill, and I believed I would have to climb more different hills as I will be climbing Mount Kinabalu at the beginning of April.

Chinese New Year is coming! Which means... more events to come! Stay tuned x

What Am I Doing With My Life?

So, I have been hooked up with a lot of stuff lately, and I did realize that my hobbies have changed since last year. It was a good change, and I really liked the 'me' right now instead of the old 'me' in my previous school, where I was always trying to please people by following their trends, thinking that I would get to 'blend' in easily.

Without further ado, here is my list of hobbies, or the things I do often in my free times.

[Uno.] I draw. I doodle a lot on my books or notes. Typography is my strength. Sometimes when I'm very free, I will draw portraits of my favorite celebrities or people who have inspired me.

[Dos.] I'm quite attracted to photography recently. So I've been taking a lot of (what people would call nowadays) Tumblr pictures, the aesthetic foods, and breath-taking scenery.

I would like to thank Brandon Woelfel for giving me inspirations to start photography (even though he doesn't know that hahah!) Go check out his Instagram because his photos shine brighter than gold - (@brandonwoelfel)

[Tres.] I play the piano. It kinda helps me release some stress when I play in freestyle. Recently, I got a ukulele and that little instrument cheers me up sometimes :)

[Cuatro.] I'm a book nerd. I'm just an ordinary girl who won the Hunger Games, ate Dauntless cake with Tobias, went to Hogwarts, thought that romance was dead but was saved by John Green, and accepted the love I think I deserve, and currently living in Camp Half Blood.

(for all those book lovers out there, you would eventually figure out what type of books I like)

[Cinco.] Blogging! It has been my favorite since the start of this year. I'm trying very hard not to be lazy and make the blog inactive because I want to write more, and share my stories to you readers out there :)

That's all I can think of for now! Stay tuned for more exciting stories! x
